Roles and Responsibilities
Dr. Amjad Ali is a Research Fellow in smart Wearable research (SWR) and is a member of the Smart Wearable Research Group in the Department of Engineering, Nottingham Trent University. Amjad has been working in the field of smart and wearable textiles for the last two years to develop a respiratory rate sensor, funded by NIHR (NIHR NIHR202107, worth ~£1m). Dr. Amjad completed his PhD from the University of Nottingham in electrical and electronics engineering. His PhD research focused on using piezoelectric materials to develop a temperature and humidity sensor with tracking capability for biomass supply chain monitoring.
Dr.Amjad’s ambition is to develop wearable smart textile-based sensors that improve daily life for healthy individuals and provide critical support for patients. Amjad aims to see these technologies integrated into clinical practice, enhancing healthcare outcomes and advancing wearable medical devices.
